Welcome to Prince of Wales Island off the coast of Alaska where, around a tiny cove called Port Protection, some 100 people eke out an existence. It's a tough life, but one the locals seem to love. Take Sam Carlson, whose boots are leaking so he makes some mink traps, catches a couple, skins them and renders their fat to slather on his boots. Just one story in the opener to this series about living alongside nature in the raw.
