Звезда · War, History · 1 season · 47 min

2019. Mongolian steppes. Khalkhin Gol. 80 years ago, thousands of Soviet and Mongolian soldiers and officers met their death on this land. Why did they fight the Japanese hundreds of kilometers from the USSR border? Why did the Kwantung Army come from Japan to these steppes? And why is Mongolia still grateful to the Soviet Marshal of Victory Georgy Zhukov? That long-gone conflict at Khalkhin Gol is still viewed differently in Russia, Mongolia, and Japan. But everyone agrees on one thing: the victory of the Soviet-Mongolian forces on these steppes changed the course of world history!
